October’s Line-Up: Weeping Covenant, Trucker Bomb, Chief Opossum and Sunnbather
8:00 pm Weeping Covenant~ Based in St. Paul, MN, The Weeping Covenant is headed by vocalist and songwriter, Michael Beatrez. Writing from a lyrically driven perspective, he generally touches on themes of hope, vulnerability, and love. Beatrez leans into his comfortable sweet spot by singing over soft fingerstyle guitar ballads and rock songs that drive with measured intensity.
The music of The Weeping Covenant is rooted in Americana, with pop sensibilities akin to Jeremy Messersmith, piercing storytelling of Jason Isbell, and spacious, sustained vocals that melt into reverb like the ballads of John Denver.
9 Trucker Bomb (LA/Mpls)~ takes a dash of dive-bar grunge and mixes it with up-tempo honky-tonk. Los Angeles isn't known as a hotbed for Americana, but that doesn't stop TruckerBomb from doing their thing.
10 Chief Opposum~ Currently a one-man show, Chief Opossum mixes neotraditional country with notes of hard rock. Raised in small town Wisconsin and based out of the Twin Cities, singer/guitarist Aven Gotzion’s music evokes the warm familiarity of the Upper Midwest
11 Sunnbather~ Sunnbather crafts dreamy, atmospheric music that evokes nostalgia and introspection. Influenced by Beach House, Slowdive, and DIIV, their sound is a blend of shimmering guitars, hypnotic rhythms, and ethereal vocals.
