Blue Red Roses, Suzy Plays Guitar and The Beavers

  • Palmer's Bar 500 Cedar Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55454 United States (map)

Wowee Zowee this is a stellar eclectic mixer of a show! Think bluegrass tinged with punk, killer Americana & 70's inspired rock action!

Out of Battle Lake, Minnesota emerge Blue Red Roses. Songwriting partners and life partners Mary and Daniel Olson craft melody laden hooks with an organic groove and nostalgic sound.

Mary and Dan both come from live rock and roll backgrounds along with years of musical theater and classical training. With an unapologetic love of '70s music, their sound is nostalgic, upbeat and off the cuff — featuring up-front vocals and tight harmonies. Their live experience is akin to a stripped down ABBA with a touch of Beatles pop and Tom Petty rock and roll.

Blue Red Roses has been touring regularly throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana — opening for the Brevet at First Avenue 7th Street Entry, playing on Radio Free Fargo, and landing features on Prairie Public Television."

Suzy Plays Guitar includes Minneapolis-based Kelsey Wyrd and Tricia Schweitzer. Their musical duet was born under the shining sun amidst the sweltering heat of summer in 2018.

Kelsey Wyrd has a tenacious musical background of piano and also plays bass + vox for the Rebel Queens. Her interest in songwriting and the electric guitar brought her to the reins of Suzy Plays Guitar. Kelsey is the lead guitarist, writing playful solos that bring never-ending magic to the Suzy sound.

Tricia Schweitzer is a singer, songwriter, and painter. The combined warmth of a beloved acoustic guitar with her sultry voice provides the solid groundwork of Suzy's songs. Tricia also has a background of piano where she plays in studio recordings for The Good Cousins.

Each Suzy song is co-written by Tricia and Kelsey. With each performance, Suzy Plays Guitar brings forth a blend of dueling vocal harmonies and sweet guitar melodies.

The Beavers play an eclectic mix of "bluegrassy" traditional, oldie-pop hidden gems and originals.
