Francis Emil Johnson, Jon Elconin and Whalen and the Willows (late show)

  • Palmer's Bar 500 Cedar Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55454 United States (map)

This show will be a lovely late summer night jamboree, with some gorgeous music makers and brilliant songwriters!

This is a late night show. Doors 9:30. Showtime 10:30

With a focus on lyrics Whalen writes tales pulled from life experience and observation. Pain, suffering, hope, and love are common motives looking to strike an authentic balance of the struggles and joys of life. The band uses melody, rhythm, and harmony to conjure an experience that is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Whalen and the Willows are a master class on soul and authenticity.

Jon Elconin is a Minneapolis guitarist/singer/songwriter who performs with a number of groups around the Twin Cities in a wide variety of styles including rock, jazz, folk, soul, and hip hop. His own band blends all these genres into one musical experience.

Francis Emil Johnson is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based out of the Twin Cities. His sound is inspired by the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Ella Fitzgerald, David Berman, Johnny Cash, Nick Drake and others. In 2020, he recorded his debut full-length album “Dumb Punchlines,” which is available for streaming everywhere. Since then, he has released four singles (and counting) to streaming platforms, including the metamodern contemplation of romance, Ex Machina. Johnson’s sound combines humor with melancholy and includes acoustic guitars layered with textures and smooth vocal delivery. Visit www.francisemiljohnson.com for more.
