The Brass Messengers & Brasszilla's 'Mardi Gras 2024~Battle of the Brass!'

  • Palmer's Bar 500 Cedar Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55454 United States (map)

Mardi Gras 2024 Battle of the Brass at Palmer's Bar! It's a brass band stomp down, like in the streets of NOLA on Mardi Gras!

Come celebrate Fat Tuesday with us, The Brass Messengers and Brasszilla! Maybe we're a many hundred miles away from the Mardi Gras Indian style face-offs of New Orleans but we got some Mardi Gras fashioned fun cooking up here at Palmer's! These two brass bands are going to create such thunder, warmth and love for all that attend! What to expect; two incredible brass bands that know how to get down, a party, Mardi Gras drink specials! King Cake and beads about. If you've always been looking for something to do on Mardi Gras in this city, we got you!

The Brass Messengers are anything that fits into twisted brass tubing, from inspired originals, to sing-a-longs, to covers from around the globe.

Palmer's and brass, is there anything more to ask? I think not, so join us and tip back a shot glass!

BrassZilla was founded in 2011 as a way for three horn players to explore their love of jazz, funk, blues, and other genres while touring with the Minneapolis rock band Chooglin’. That exploration led to the addition of drummer Andy Deckard and produced original compositions that defy typical notions of genre or style. Whether it’s happening in a theater, in a roadhouse, or by the side of the road, BrassZilla will deliver its hip-shakin’ beer jazz. Something that's a little chilly and a little hot and makes the head start to move with a certain kind of groove. Something that everyone needs. More recently (on the pandemic clock anyway), BrassZilla reunited with some of their old bandmates and played in Eleganza’s rendering of the Rolling Stones’ “Exile on Main Street” record in the 7th Street Entry, which was ranked the fourth best live show of 2018 in the Star Tribune.
