48 Hour Band Contestival!
Begun as a community-building exercise by members of Anti-Civ Records in 2008, the Original MPLS 48 Hour Band Contestival returns after 8 years to test the creativity, imagination and insanity of the local music scene! On Thursday, Aug. 15th from 5-8 pm folks of all stripes and skill levels are invited to the Palmer's patio to throw their name in a hat and be randomly drafted into a brand new band, which then has until Saturday, Aug. 17th at 7 pm to compose 10-15 minutes of original material And perform their set back on the patio stage in front of peers, audience, and celebrity judges for the chance to win little prizes and Big Fame! Here's your chance to participate in the famous event that brought so many local musicians together for years, so Don't Be Afraid To Get Weird!
The esteemed judges are:
Kaily McKee is a Mpls tattoo artist, craftsperson, and the biggest sweetheart ever. This is their 4th time judging!
Lindsay Rhyner is a Mpls textile artist and a longtime scene mainstay. It's their 3rd time judging!
Laura Westley-Williams is a local music promoter and booker, formerly of The White Squirrel. It's their 1st time judging!
Devohn Bland is a Mpls comedian, musician, and online celebrity. This is their 1st time too!
