9pm Bathtub Cig~ is the Minneapolis based intimate depression pop project of Hilary James. Their 2018 debut EP "Old Light" draws comparisons to a synth-pop version of Frankie Cosmo with raw lyrics and catchy melodies.
10 Katy Pinke~ songs are self-examinations—cerebral and unsparing, but reaching toward a more promising future. The Manhattan-based singer-songwriter, painter, and theater-maker’s nimble soprano evokes the precision, humor, and melancholy of forbearers like The Roches and Connie Converse. Sentences pour across verses, disrupting the symmetry of the expected verse-chorus form. PopMatters describes her, on her most recent album, as “Suzanne Vega’s oddball niece, or Joni Mitchell in an outer space Cabaret.” Her live shows have become storied events in the NYC indie scene, sharing the stage with acts like Laura Veirs, Jolie Holland, This is Lorelei, Joanna Sternberg, TV On the Radio’s Kyp Malone, Indigo Sparke, Delicate Steve, Jesse Harris, Trixie Whitley, and Diane Cluck.
11 Loud Sun~ the primary project for South Minneapolis musician and producer-songwriter, Andrew Jansen. Most often self-produced and self-recorded, they incorporate elements of punk, psych, folk, and pop through a lo-fi and retro lens. For the last 5 years & currently, Jo Kellen (of Products Band on bass), and Skyler Nowinski (The Controversial New Skinny Pill on drums), help fill out the compositions for live shows.
